New Beginnings
For a while, I have been wanting to start a blog (or website) that serves as a platform to share my adventures and experiences while traveling across the western portion of America with you guys. I post very frequently on my Instagram but I realized that it was hard to maintain without having to bombard the audience with a photo dumb that comes maybe two to three times a year.
I’ve had this website for at least 5 years now. It’s always served as my portfolio slash personal blog. As I will be wrapping up my User Experience Design course soon (my expected completion date will be sometime in November), I decided to move my portfolio to Webflow. Realizing the magic of #NoCode, Webflow has proven to be a powerhouse to build custom websites quick. I do have a background in coding which made it a lot easier to understand Webflow quicker than the average jo. If you’re still interested in checking out what I have made before (aside from serving up handcrafted beverages and traveling), check it out here.
This website will slowly transform into an ‘adventure blog’. I put them in quotes because perhaps I don’t travel as much as the regular adventure blogger. But I do try to take a trip at least once a year. With COVID-19 hitting in 2020, it became more obvious that I needed to take the opportunity to explore what America has to offer. Growing up, my dad had always taken the entire family to these 2 to 3 week-long road trips across America. I return to a lot of the places he took me because I want to experience them differently. Like your average teen going through the angsty years, I wasn’t always able to fully appreciate what nature has to offer. Moreover, I didn’t quite understand the importance of learning the histories and stories of the land we currently stand on. I’d like to thank my dad for taking the time and effort to always broaden my horizons.
It all began with the road trips back then but it also all began with my first solo road trip down to Utah in 2018. Prior to that, I have zero experiences with camping. I did a casual amount of hikes here and there but I was never a serious hiker (I still am not). That trip changed my perception on camping and hiking and eventually brought me into the world of backpacking as well. I went into REI a couple of weeks before I had to leave for Utah and bought all my gear. I did two test runs to make sure my gear worked and the rest was history.
It was still one of the best trips I have taken so far.
That being said, I am not a full-time adventurer or traveler. I try to keep things authentic and real. I do want to share my tips and experiences of how I plan my trips and how I make them happen. I keep emphasizing on that fact because if I can make them happen, you can too. I think it’s important for us to connect with nature and learn about the histories and stories of all sorts of things and there’s nothing more fun than taking a road trip or exploring somewhere that might seem familiar. I hope you enjoy the content I am providing and I wholeheartedly hope that at some point, I will help inspire you to start your own adventure soon.
Also, I just spent 2.5 weeks on the road traveling across six states and I simply cannot wait to share those experiences on the blog soon.
