Vacation.

I'm currently taking two weeks off from work right now. I'm basically on Day 12 now and I really don't want this vacation to come to an end. Honestly, the latter week is more like a staycation and catching up with all the design work I have to do for UBCMUN.

For the first week of my vacation, I was in Chicago. I met up with my mom, who was there for a conference related to sociology. It's been 10 years since I last visited Chicago. It honestly did not feel that long ago to me. We stayed at the same hotel we did 10 years ago. I vividly remember my mom getting us Thai food takeout while my sister and I were in the hotel room, waiting for the Teen Choice Awards to start I believe? (#THROWBACK) But wow, there you go, 10 years after my mom and I are back in the same hotel. I had such a good time catching up with my mom and exploring the city with her.

The part that stands out was when we conversed about my future plans. As we all know, I'm currently a shift supervisor at Starbucks and I am not necessarily having the time of my life. Don't judge me for saying that. It's not a bad job at all. It's stable and I'm learning a lot on the job. But those skills aren't necessarily the skills I can be obtaining more. I want to revisit the interests I truly have and developed back when I was in high school or college. The job itself is at times so superficial that it's hard to swallow the constant bombardment of superficiality. After chatting with my mom about my future plans and aspirations. I quickly signed up for an info session to learn more about another General Assembly class. This time, I am dedicated to take the Web Development Immersive course.

WDI is intense. It's like a job. Classes are held from nine to five-thirty in the afternoon. And it doesn't end there. Your instructors expect you to stay late to work on homework and team projects. Of course, that's also the time where you seek for help and support when you're stuck on certain problems. I'm foreseeing a lot of frustrating moments. WDI is a course that encompasses all the programming languages that any Junior Web Developer is expected to know. From Front-End to Back-End to Git, to you name it. Everything. Literally EVERYTHING. That part is actually what excites me the most.

I have been telling myself that I am so ready to go back to a classroom environment. I am so ready to tackle upcoming challenges, whatever they might be. I'd also like to note that whenever I am typing up a post regarding to career changes and also my 'hardships' at work I can't help but picture myself as a prime example of a cliche quote you see presented in Helvetica slabbed onto a photograph of mountains or waves or whatever they might be. You know what I'm saying?

Anyhow, pictures will be posted soon. Also, stay tuned for the website I hammered out in the past 3 days. It was solely built on Muse, so don't judge.
